Clemson football revealed its social justice helmet decals before kickoff.
Clemson football will have a variety of social justice helmet decals on display Saturday night.
From the team’s official account, they tweeted out four images, one for each decal that can be worn on the back of their helmet by a Clemson Tigers football player: “Love”, “End Racism”, “Black Lives Matter” and “Equality.”
As was witnessed by fans booing a moment of unity between the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans during the NFL opener on Thursday night, some people took exception to a gesture of unity, love and ending racism.
Clemson hits the road to take on Wake Forest in their season-opener
With star players such as quarterback Trevor Lawrence and running back Travis Etienne, Clemson is expected to win the ACC for the sixth year in a row, get back to the national title bout and win its third national championship in five seasons. Anything other than a national title berth would be considered a huge embarrassing failure for the team. Of course, this team is absolutely loaded.
Given this is the signature primetime game of the Week 2 slate with Sean McDonough and Todd Blackledge on the call for ABC, they may touch on these decals more than some members of the Clemson Family who aren’t exactly All In on this social justice gesture. After what we saw happen in Clemson earlier this summer, of course, the team was going to be politically active this fall.
If a glorified helmet sticker offends you, then you’ve got some bigger fish to fry in your life.
