Philip Rivers changed uniforms this offseason, but his interception tendencies remain.
After starting every game for the Chargers since Week 1 of 2006, Philip Rivers signed with the Indianapolis Colts as a free agent this offseason. A soft landing in his Colts debut came in Week 1, against the “no, we’re not tanking” Jacksonville Jaguars.
Rivers threw the third-most interceptions in the league last year (20), as he often got too aggressive as the Chargers went 5-11. It was also the fourth time in his career he threw at least 18 picks in a season.
It took Rivers 11 pass attempts to throw his first interception as a Colt. It looked a lot like many of the 20 picks from 2019.
New team, same Philip Rivers as last year - throws it into double coverage and gets picked.#Jaguars 9th overall pick, C.J. Henderson gets it easily.pic.twitter.com/GFj0ifX8LM

Rivers never had a cannon for an arm, and at a 38 years old what he did have for arm strength has clearly deteriorated. Confidence or forcing things in negative game script is one thing, but Rivers threw a bad interception that the Jacksonville offense cashed in for a tying touchdown.
