Daniel Jones drops a deep dime to Darius Slayton for first TD of season (Video)

The New York Giants’ first touchdown of the 2020 season comes in the form of a Daniel Jones dime pass.

Monday night was an important one for the New York Giants. This is their first regular-season opener in 16 years without Eli Manning starting under center and they have a new head coach in Joe Judge. After losing the most games of any NFL team in the past three seasons, the Giants entered Week1 with the intent of finally turning things around.

After an impressive first quarter resulting in a 3-3 tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Giants secured their first touchdown of the season in the form of a Daniel Jones 42-yard dime pass to receiver Darius Slayton for the touchdown.

The chemistry between Jones and Slayton is unmatched

Jones and Slayton were part of the 2019 Giants draft class, with the quarterback being taken sixth-overall while the former Auburn Tigers wideout ended up being selected in the fifth-round of the NFL Draft. The two built up quite the rapport during their first training camp, and it translated last year.

During the 2019 season, Jones completed 61.9-percent of his passes for 3,027 yards, 24 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. As for Slayton, he caught 48-of-84 passes for 740 yards and eight touchdowns.

Expect the two to tally up some serious yardage throughout this 16-game campaign, especially under new offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. And it’s only fitting that the first touchdown of the season came from Jones, aka “Danny Dimes.”
