Sheffield United face Wolves at Bramall Lane on Monday, Sept. 14. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
The first matchday of the Premier League season wraps up on Monday with Sheffield United playing Wolverhampton at Bramall Lane. The Blades were the surprise team of last season after finishing ninth after being promoted. Wolves had another strong season a year ago, finishing seventh.
Sheffield United scored and conceded 39 goals last season. While they were one of the best defensive clubs, they were one of the worst attacking sides. In the transfer market, the Blades decided to further reinforce their defense. Keeper Aaron Ramsdale was signed from Bournemouth to replace Dean Henderson whose loan expired and was returned to Manchester United. While full-backs Jayden Bogle and Max Lowe were signed from Derby and should compete for a place in the starting XI. The problem for the Blades will be scoring goals. Oliver McBurnie and Lys Mousset tied for the club lead with six goals apiece last season and will be counted on for goals again this season.
Wolves have invested heavily since the club was bought by Fosun International. Wolverhampton added even more Portuguese players to their roster in the transfer window. Portuese manager Nuno Espírito Santo now has 10 Portuguese players in his team. Wolves were one of the best defensive clubs in the Premier League last season, conceding only 40 goals. In the attacking third, the club will again rely heavily on Raul Jimenez. The Mexican striker scored 17 of the club’s 51 goals last season and is primed for another big season.
