Fantasy Football: 5 bold predictions for Week 2
By Dustin Baker
What are five bold fantasy football predictions for Week 2 of the NFL season?
Each week, FanSided offers five bold predictions pertaining to your fantasy football matchups. This is the second edition of a series that will accompany you deep into your fantasy postseason travels.
Generally speaking, these prognostications are assessed from a 10-team, PPR league perspective. Most of the time, the assertions will apply to all aspects of fantasy football. If some sleepers are honorably mentioned, don’t be upset that the player is considered a sleeper when he may be the best option you have to plug-and-play. Not all leagues abide by the traditional 10-man format, and some leagues are even more exciting when they’re out-of-the-norm leagues.
But now, let’s hold ourselves accountable from last week:
- Cam Newton shows little rust and dominates the Miami Dolphins. Correct. Newton was the sixth-best fantasy quarterback in Week 1.
- George Kittle personally thumps the Arizona Cardinals. Incorrect. Kittle was the league’s 15th-best Week 1 tight end option.
- The Buffalo Bills defense exits of Week 1 as the top fantasy group. Close to correct. The Bills finished the week as the sixth-best fantasy defense.
- Kyler Murray struggles fantasy-wise in San Francisco. Incorrect. Murray was quite effective and was the league’s 5th-best quarterback in Week 1.
- Josh Jacobs is a menace during Week 1 and leads all skill players in scoring. Quasi-correct. Jacobs was the NFL’s best fantasy running back — Davante Adams led all non-quarterbacks in PPR fantasy scoring.
Onward. Here are five relatively brazen predictions that are associated with Week 2 only. Not all of these projections will be accurate all of the time. Fantasy football dealings are topsy-turvy. Overall, though, let this season-long series serve as a pocketbook to your fantasy strategy.
