One top 25 college football team has already been upset, so which three are in danger of suffering a similar fate and are on upset alert in Week 3?

It only took one week of college football action for a ranked team to get upset. The Iowa State Cyclones figured to be one of the top teams in the Big 12 this year but, as they welcomed the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns to Ames, those hopes seemingly dissipated rapidly. After a 31-14 contest in favor of unranked ULL, Iowa State is officially the first team to be upset in the 2020 season.

Outside of that game, though, the ranked teams were never in all that much danger. Oklahoma and Clemson were dominant, North Carolina ran away with their victory, Notre Dame handled Duke and Texas dominated UTEP in a 59-point rout. It’s clear that, though we have our first upset of the season already in the books, college football is likely going to be stingy with those types of games.

Having said that, there is another slate of ranked opponents on the docket for Week 3 of the 2020 season and, as such, there are some potential upsets. No, not cheeky possible outcomes like No. 18 Louisville beating No. 17 Miami — instead, there are unranked teams that could most definitely pop up and, at the very least, scare a ranked opponent.

Some games don’t fit that bill, to be sure. Clemson taking on The Citadel, North Carolina facing Charlotte, Oklahoma State opening the season against Tulsa and even the matchups for Notre Dame and Cincinnati don’t qualify. But that still leaves us with some potential opportunities for some early-season calamity.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at three teams that could follow in the footsteps of the Ragin’ Cajuns and score an underdog win in Week 3. We’re putting these three college football teams on upset alert, once again.
