4. D’Eriq King, QB, Miami

While D’Eriq King undoubtedly inspired optimism among Miami Hurricanes fans coming into this season, there was still a question about how good the former Houston quarterback would be in the ACC. He looked good playing UAB last week but he truly announced his presence on Saturday night in a primetime win over Louisville.

King’s electric streak of 16-straight games with a rushing and passing touchdown came to an end but that doesn’t lessen his dominance. He had only eight rushing yards after going for over 80 last week but King diced up the Cardinals for 325 yards and three touchdowns through the air. If he truly is going to have Miami in the mix atop the ACC and plays like this with his dual-threat ability, King will be an undeniable Heisman force.

3. Sam Ehlinger, QB, Texas

The Texas Longhorns were off in Week 3 but don’t let that allow you to forget what veteran quarterback Sam Ehlinger did in a complete beatdown of UTEP. There were high hopes for the signal-caller entering the 2020 season as Mike Yurcich took control of the offense and the early returns could not be more optimism-inducing.

In the emphatic victory, Ehlinger completed 25 of his 33 passes for 426 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions. The big change for him was that he rushed only three times, far fewer than he did in any game last season. But that may be better for his Heisman candidacy. Not only will it show his progression as a player but it will also keep him healthy and potentially allow him to put up those types of numbers each week.
