Nebraska football is coming back but the Cornhuskers will face a brutal schedule that may not result in too many wins for Scott Frostās team.
Nebraska football coaches, players, parents of players, fans and politicians were among the most vocal when it came to starting the Big Ten football season.
After the Big Ten reversed their decision and announced the season would resume with an eight-game regular-season schedule and a ninth game matching the division finisher with the counterpart from the opposite division, no team may have been hit harder than Scott Frostās Cornhuskers.
Nebraska opens the season with a tough road game at Ohio State, which was the preseason No. 2 team in the AP Top 25, and figures to take their spot when Big Ten teams are eligible to be voted in on Sept. 27.
Then, they get Wisconsin, who may be the second-toughest team in the Big Ten in Week 2. Then, they get Penn State in Week 4, which may be the third-best team after Ohio State and Wisconsin.
Yikes.

Naturally, Twitter was full of great reactions after the Nebraska football schedule was released with some speculating the Big Ten was sending a message to the program after being so vocal
Big Ten Update: Dan hearing from source that conference officials upset with Nebraska Governor, AD and coach for being outspoken and intentionally handing them difficult schedule that starts out with trip to Ohio State and then Wisconsin at home.

The Jordan memes from The Last Dance are really the gift that keeps on giving. So much better and more applicable than the Cryin Jordan meme too.

This is it. This is the best tweet weāll see all week. Wonder what the line would be on Nebraska at Mordor? Iām not laying the points.

Nebraska, we thank you for your efforts and fighting for football to return. As your reward you will play Ohio State and Penn State to start the season. Now go get your shine box, and don't ever talk back to us again. Sincerely, the Big Ten front office

The biggest surprise is that the Big Ten didnāt put Nebraska at Ohio State in week 2 as well.
Nebraska opens the season at Ohio State. Shocked. Just shockedāshocked I tell you. Kevin Warren and the heavies in the Big 10 shoot back the virtual middle finger at the #Huskers. Let's face it: If @HuskerFBNation hadn't raised holy hell, the Big 10 isn't playing this season.

Nebraska went from opening at home against Purdue, to playing on the road against Rutgers, to playing at the Death Star.

Of course, itās important to remember that Nebraska was going to be facing these teams anyway in the original schedule or in the conference-only schedule. Now, itās just devoid of the cupcake wins and much more difficult considering there are no bye weeks over two months and starting with an angry Ohio State team is a daunting task.
And Nebraska football players, coaches and fans would take this schedule all day over no schedule at all. They wanted to play. Thatās all they asked for. Now they get their chance to play and now theyāll have an opportunity to prove themselves against one of the tougher draws in the nation.
If Nebraska can go 4-4, that may be a win.
