NFL Week 2 Fantasy POV: Overrated and underrated at each position
Surefire Starters at Running Back
- Josh Jacobs, Las Vegas Raiders running back, scored 35.9 points in fantasy football’s week 1. He had 25 carries for 93 yards and 3 touchdowns. In this week’s game against New Orleans, the Saints better recognize that Jacobs can also be a valuable receiver out of the backfield. He caught 4 passes for 46 yards in Vegas’ 34-30 win against Carolina in week 1.
- Christian McCaffrey, Carolina Panthers running back, had 23 carries for 96 yards and caught 3 passes for 36 yards. THe only difference in his matchup with Josh Jacobs is Jacobs had 3 touchdowns and McCaffrey has just 2. It erxplains why McCaffrey had to settle for 28.4 fantasy points. Start him against division rival Tampa Bay.
- Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys running back, matched McCaffrey’s 96 yards rushing (in 22 carries) and rushed for one touchdown. Elliott also caught 3 passes for 31 yards and one touchdown. Expect another 27-point performance from Zeke in s week 2 game against Atlanta.
- Nyheim Hines, Indianapolis Colts running back, caught 8 passes for 45 yards and one touchdown. He also ran 7 times for 28 yards and a touchdown. If Colts QB Philip Rivers continues to throw one-third of his passes to running backs, Hines and RB Jonathan Taylor could have a productive game against the VIkings in week 2.
- Raheem Mostert, San Francisco 49ers running back, had 15 carries for 56 yards and 4 receptions for 95 yards. He caught one touchdown pass and scored 25.1 fantasy points. THe Jets will be hard pressed to keep the 49ers rushing total under 100 yards in their week 2 game.
Riding the Bench
- Kenyan Drake, Arizona Cardinals running back, will have trouble running the ball against the Washington defense. THe Cardinals will have rely more on quarterback Kyler Murray throwing the ball.
- Myles Gaskins, Miami Dolphins running back, was Miami’s leading rusher with 9 carries for 40 yards. The Buffalo Bills won’ t give him much room to maneuver in their week 2 contest.
- Sony Michel, New England Patriots running back, ran for 37 yards against the Dolphins last week and face an equally difficult rush defense in the Seattle Seahawks.
- Boston Scott, Philadelphia Eagles running back, will ride the bench because the Eagles expect Miles Sanders to start his 1st game of the 2020 season.
Underrated
- Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns running back, led an explosive Browns running game over the Cincinnati Bengals in a 35-30 Thursday night win. No one could have expected that both Chubb and teammate Kareem Hunt would combine for 50.4 fantasy points. Chubb ran for 124 yards on 22 carries and 2 touchdowns.
- Kareem Hunt, Cleveland Browns running back, had 10 carries for 86 yards and one touchdown. He also caught 2 passes for 15 yards and one touchdown.
Overrrated
- Austin Ekeler, Los Angeles Chargers running back, carried the ball 19 times for 84 yards, but earned only 9.7 fantasy points in week 1. He was rated as a Tier 1 RB, but the Chargers failed to use him effectively on offense especially as a pass receiver.
Sleeper RB of the Week
- Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers running back, had 16 carries for 46 yards and one rushing touchdown against the Vikings ina week 1 victory. He should be even more productive against a Detroit LIons rush defense that surrendered 150 yards to the Chicago Bears.
