Ohio State football is the team capable of running the Big Ten gauntlet.

The Big Ten released its 2020 season schedule, and Ohio State football is in fantastic shape.

The Ohio State Buckeyes draw a very favorable eight-game, conference-only schedule. While they do have to play on the road vs. the Penn State Nittany Lions, their only other potentially challenging game will be vs. the Michigan Wolverines in The Horseshoe. Let’s take a look at what Ohio State might be able to do with its updated 2020 college football season schedule.

Here is Ohio State football’s new 2020 college football season schedule.

Updated 2020 Ohio State football season schedule

  • Week 2 (Oct. 31): at Penn State Nittany Lions (University Park, PA)
  • Week 3 (Nov. 7): vs. Rutgers Scarlet Knights (Columbus, OH)
  • Week 4 (Nov. 14): at Maryland Terrapins (College Park, MD)
  • Week 5 (Nov. 21): vs. Indiana Hoosiers (Columbus, OH)
  • Week 6 (Nov. 28): at Illinois Fighting Illini (Champaign, IL)

  • Week 8 (Dec. 12): vs. Michigan Wolverines (Columbus, OH)

Bold indicates an Ohio State victory

Ohio State will play all six of its Big Ten East rivals this season and draws the Illinois Fighting Illini and the Nebraska Cornhuskers out of the Big Ten West. Because Ohio State doesn’t have to play either the Minnesota Golden Gophers or the Wisconsin Badgers before potentially a Big Ten Championship game meeting, it’s all about beating Penn State and Michigan to get to Indianapolis.

The most important game on the Buckeyes’ schedule is the road date at Penn State. While it’s very early in the season, that might play to the Buckeyes’ advantage. Though it’ll surely be a night game at Beaver Stadium, it won’t be in front of a packed house this year. That will be the difference for them to avoid an early-season loss. From there, it’s a cake walk to the Big Ten title.

Week 9 projected competitive balance game

  • 1: Ohio State Buckeyes (8-0) vs. Wisconsin Badgers (7-1) (Indianapolis, IN)

It will be a rematch of last year’s Big Ten Championship game, as the Buckeyes will win the Big Ten East yet again taking on the Big Ten West division champion Badgers. While Ohio State will be unscathed before the Indianapolis date, a road loss to Michigan in Ann Arbor in Week 3 will be the Badgers’ lone blemish before the title bout. As expected, Ohio State will win and reach the playoff.

Even if a weird season, Ohio State football remains the best team in the Big Ten.
