Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady paid tribute to Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
On Friday, those in the United States were saddened to hear that Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away at the age of 87 after a battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer. Ginsburg fought for women’s rights throughout her long life, leading to her appointment into the United States Supreme Court in 1993, a position she held up until her death.
Many individuals in sports sent their condolences to the Ginsburg family, and the latest to do so was Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, who sent out a tribute to the pioneer on Twitter.
Honoring the “Notorious RGB”
Brady wasn’t the only sports figure to pay tribute to the “Notorious RGB.” United States Women’s National Team star Megan Rapinoe, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and tennis legend Billie Jean King were a few of the countless individuals who paid their respects to Ginsburg. Additionally, teams like the Golden State Warriors, the USWNT, and her hometown Brooklyn Nets tweeted out their respective tributes.
Ginsburg spent all of her public service career fighting for women’s and gender equality rights. In 1993, Ginsburg was appointed by then-President Bill Clinton to the Supreme Court, becoming the second woman and the first Jewish woman to hold that position. Ginsburg has dealt with five bouts with cancer, with the latest coming this past February when lesions were found in her liver. Even so, Ginsburg worked during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and continued with her famous daily workout routines.
Ginsburg was a star for the younger generation because of her roles in the establishment of equal rights for women and the legalization of same-sex marriage across the entire country. She will forever be remembered as an icon in American history and she’ll serve as an inspiration for those trying to bring positive change in the country.
