2020 NFL power rankings, Week 3: Cowboys rally, Vikings fall
The team was looking to avoid a second consecutive 0-2 start. Drew Lock went down with an apparent shoulder injury in the first quarter and did not return but backup Jeff Driskel overcame six sacks and an interception with 256 yards passing and a pair of scores. Bur Denver’s pass rush only got to Ben Roethlisberger once and did come up with an interception. But the veteran passer burned the Denver defense for 311 yards and two touchdowns.
Dak Prescott and the offense didn’t spend a lot of time on the field last Sunday night at Los Angeles. And Mike McCarthy’s team couldn’t hang onto the football early in this game and by halftime, the Cowboys were down at home, 29-10. But the club would settle down, finish with 570 total yards and put themselves in position to steal the game after successfully executing an onside kick. Greg Zuerlein nailed the game-winning 46-yard field goal.
The franchise was looking for its first 2-0 start since 2011 but found themselves in an early home in the desert. Washington was down 14-0 after 15 minutes of play and 20-0 at intermission. Jack Del Rio’s defensive unit surrendered 438 total yards – including 160 rushing. Offensively, second-year quarterback Dwayne Haskins finished with 223 yards through the air and one touchdown. But he was sacked four times and lost a fumble.
