2020 NFL power rankings, Week 3: Cowboys rally, Vikings fall
Ryan Tannehill threw a pair of first-quarter touchdown passes and the Titans appeared to be in control early on. But Tennessee’s defense wound up surrendering 480 total yards to Doug Marrone’s team. Derrick Henry had 84 of the team’s 123 yards rushing while Tannehill wound up with 239 yards through the air and four scores – including a pair to emerging tight end Jonnu Smith. Stephen Gostkowski’s 49-yard boot with 1:36 to play was the difference.
Off a huge road upset of the 49ers in Week 1, the Cards hosted Washington and were hoping to keep Kyle Murray out of harm’s way. While the second-year pro was sacked three times and intercepted once, he also threw for 286 yards and one score and ran eight times for 67 yards and two TDs. The Arizona defense sacked Dwayne Haskins four times and Kliff Kingsbury’s team forced two turnovers. The Cardinals are 2-0 for the first time since 2015.
Bill Belichick’s team headed to the Pacific Northwest for a prime time affair. Dating back to 2001, the Patriots owned a gaudy 61-15 regular-season mark in interconference games. And New England trailed the host Seahawks, 35-23, late in the fourth quarter. Cam Newton would throw for 397 yards and one score (1 interception) and ran for two TDs. But down by five and with three ticks on the clock, he was stopped on the final play of the game.
