Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints may be without star wide receiver Michael Thomas for the next four weeks.

As jacked up as New Orleans Saints fans were for the convincing victory over Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during Week 1, things weren’t all gravy inside the Superdome during that victory.

That’s because superstar wide receiver Michael Thomas, arguably the best in the game, suffered a high ankle sprain and was clearly in a ton of pain after getting rolled up. Now, the Saints and Drew Brees may be without him for the next month, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports.

It goes without saying, but Thomas potentially missing a month’s worth of action would be a monster blow for the New Orleans offense. At the same time, this team has plenty of weapons to try and stay above water while Thomas is out.

However, no one on the team provides the same kind of downfield threat as Thomas, which will surely cause Sean Payton and the rest of the New Orleans coaches to mix things up a bit. Fortunately for them, they’ve got Drew Brees throwing the ball, and he’s been known for spreading the ball all over the gridiron.

In addition, Alvin Kamara himself is one of the best running backs in the entire league. Not only can he hurt you on the ground, but Kamara also does a great job of catching the ball out of the backfield and making defenders look silly while trying to bring him down.

We’ll get our first look at the Saints without Thomas on Monday with New Orleans taking on the Las Vegas Raiders.
