The Eagles look to bounce back after a disappointing Week 1 loss to Washington

Carson Wentz became more familiar with the FedEx Field turf than his Eagles teammates in Week 1 in Washington, as he was sacked on eight occasions thanks in part to a makeshift offensive line. Wentz didn’t do himself any favors, either, as he held onto the ball far too long, and the Eagles blew a double-digit lead to a team they had no business losing to.

Philadelphia was expected to be an NFC East favorite and potential contender in the conference. Instead, they looked very beatable and yet another example of preseason hype turned regular season failure.

The Rams, meanwhile, are the opposite. Los Angeles surprised many by defeating the Dallas Cowboys at home on Sunday night, with Jared Goff and Sean McVay taking a case of unfamiliar skill position players to a respectable offensive showing. The real story for Los Angeles was their defensive line, who overpowered the Pro Bowl-laden Cowboys offensive line to dominate the line of scrimmage all night long. Aaron Donald was once again a force, something Rams fans have become all too used to over the course of his six-plus seasons with the franchise.

The Rams aren’t an ideal matchup for that struggling Eagles offensive line. If they thought Chase Young was a monster, they haven’t seen anything yet. The key to victory for LA is more of the same — win the line of scrimmage, and leave Wentz on his back more times than not. In response, the Eagles must get Wentz on the move and outside the pocket to keep the Rams defensive line at bay. That, and quick throws to skill position players in space, are about the only way they can keep the ball matriculating in the right direction.
