The Seahawks recorded the stop of the year thus far against Cam Newton and the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football.

What a Sunday night both the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots treated football fans to in Week 2. Not only did the two teams combine for 65 points, but things came down to the very last play between the two powerhouses.

With the game on the line, everyone thought Cam Newton was going to be able to power his way into the end zone for six to giving the Patriots a walk-off win. However, the Seahawks defense had other ideas, stopping Newton short. The reverse angle of that play is sure to fire up Seattle fans to start the new week.

Russell Wilson showed why he’s an MVP favorite in the thrilling Seahawks win

As you can see from the video above, the Seahawks defense swarmed the line with passion and was able to get to Newton before he could even have a chance of diving for the touchdown. At the same time, it sure looks like there was a lot of green space for the quarterback on the outside, but the Seahawks pressure didn’t even give him a second to think about reversing course.

While the final stop of the game is making countless headlines, we also can’t forget about the sensational play of superstar signal-caller Russell Wilson. After throwing his early pick-six, the MVP candidate went on to throw for five touchdowns, dropping dime after dime in the process.

In the two Seattle wins, Wilson has thrown for 610 yards and nine touchdowns. With the Seahawks letting ‘Russ cook’ to start the season, the team truly is looking like a serious threat once again in the NFC.
