4. Houston Texans

Bill O’Brien the general manager seems set to sabotage Bill O’Brien the head coach, with a litany of bad trades. There was a case for trading DeAndre Hopkins in lieu of paying him a big contract (however flimsy,) which seems to make Beckham a strained fit from a broad view. Future draft capital has been given up, obviously, so the Texans are in win-now mode.

O’Brien is trying to replace Hopkins will volume of bodies (Brandin Cooks, Randall Cobb), but the Texans have no legit No. 1 wide receiver even if there are Will Fuller truthers out there. There’s another case to be made that not having Hopkins as a crutch will make Deshaun Watson into a more refined passer as he disperses out targets in a more balanced fashion.

Watson seemed open to the idea of teaming up with Beckham, and the two would surely be dynamic together if Beckham still has something close to the level he showed with the Giants.

O’Brien is on a warm seat the overload of the organization in Houston. Why should he stop making trades now? A happy and presumably healthy Beckham would be a game-changer for the Texans what promises to be a tightly packed AFC South.
