WWE Monday Night Raw: RETRIBUTION competes in main event
RETRIBUTION is now a part of WWE Monday Night Raw and they had to face the wrath of the entire locker room in the main event of the evening.
Monday Night Raw did not actually get off to a start before RETRIBUTION took over causing a ruckus in front of the camera. Before they could state their claim, the Hurt Business came down to the ring, kicking off a huge brawl. This time, it would be RETRIBUTION getting the upper hand and squashing the Hurt Business.
The first match of the evening saw multiple tag teams looking for an opportunity to face the Street Profits at Clash of Champions. The triple threat tag team match featured Andrade versus Angel Garza, Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy versus Dominick Mysterio and Humberto Carrillo. This was an action-packed match from the start, but the major angle would be Rollins who would walk off, leaving Murphy by himself in the tag match. That would be the opening needed as Garza hit the Wing Clipper on Murphy to win the match.
The second match of the evening featured yet another rematch between WWE champion, Drew McIntyre, and Keith Lee. McIntyre and Lee battled in the ring early, but things quickly spilled to the floor where McIntyre got the upper-hand after dropping Lee onto the announce table. When they got back into the ring both men had their fair share of offense. They continued to hit each other with the biggest moves in their skill set before Randy Orton attacked, causing a disqualification win for McIntyre.
Asuka is scheduled to defend her Raw women’s title on Sunday, but her opponent was still to be decided heading into Monday’s show. Mickie James and Zelina Vega battled in a one-on-one match. James was in control for much of the match, her experience as a veteran leading the way. But that would not stop Vega from countering the Mick-DT and land a nasty Backstabber to pick up the victory.
The Hurt Business had their eyes on RETRIBUTION, but that would be after Cedric Alexander had business to tend to with Apollo Crews. Alexander was in the driving seat early, but the former United States champion was not going to go away without a fight. Alexander got distracted by Ricochet on the outside and was rolled up for Crews to get the win.
Women’s tag team action was up next. Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler competed against Lana and Natalya. The champions wasted very little time in squashing their opponents while arguing amongst themselves the whole time.
Asuka had a singles match to prepare for her title defense on Sunday. She took on former tag team champion, Peyton Royce. Asuka went right to work on Royce, dominating her from the start. Royce was able to make a comeback, rolling Asuka up multiple times but unable to put the champion away. Just as Asuka was taking control of the match again, Zelina Vega ran in to cause a disqualification.
The main event of the evening was a six-man tag team match with RETRIBUTION facing off against the Hurt Business in six-man action. Bobby Lashley got things off to a hot start for his team, but RETRIBUTION eventually took over the momentum of the match. Lashley locked in the Full Nelson on one of the members but before he could submit a group of RETRIBUTION members stormed the ring to force a disqualification.
