Anthony Davis gave the Lakers a 2-0 lead over the Nuggets on Sunday in thrilling fashion, as he took advantage of a Denver miscommunication, stepped back behind the three-point line and nailed a dagger as time expired.

Make no mistake — these Lakers are still LeBron James’ team. But Davis is well on his way from carrying that torch himself. James knows this, hence why he was fine being little more than a distraction on Davis’ game-winning bucket.

The Nuggets hit the Lakers with their best shot, and even that wasn’t enough. But if there’s any team more accustomed to beating the odds, it’s these Nuggets. Denver’s been down 3-1 in each of their two postseasons series thus far, only to come back against the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers respectively. The Lakers are a different animal entirely, but the Nuggets are aware of the challenge.

Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic must remain active in Game 3. Jokic nearly played hero for the Nuggets in Game 2 before Davis stole the show. This moment is not too big for him, even with the Lakers plethora of bigs including AD, Dwight Howard and Javale McGee. Murray taking advantage of the Lakers’ sub-par guard play would make a huge difference, if it’s possible at this juncture.
