FanDuel NFL 2020: Best lineup for Week 3
By Nick Villano
Injuries could be key in making Fanduel lineup decisions in Week 3.
The football field was as dangerous as its been in a while this past week as over a dozen star players saw their seasons at least temporarily go on the shelf. Star fantasy players like Saquon Barkley, Raheem Mostert, and Christian McCaffrey will all miss multiple weeks (and probably the season in Barkley’s case).
Depth pieces like Courtland Sutton, Drew Lock, Parris Campbell, and Sterling Shepard are also out for varying amounts of time. This may not be important now, but it could be crucial to come bye weeks.
This is where daily fantasy might get a jump in production. An owner of a team that might have Barkley and Mostert might be throwing in the towel already if he’s 0-2. This could see an uptick in production from daily fantasy players.
This past week, daily fantasy players may have been upset with the performance of some of their players. Besides the injured players, Julio Jones (3.4 Fanduel points), Davante Adams (5.1 Fanduel points), and Will Fuller (0 points and in just under nine percent of lineups) were all massive disappointments from the receiver position. Derrick Henry didn’t do much despite the Tennessee Titans scoring 33 points.
At quarterback, it was hard to go wrong. Cam Newton, Russell Wilson, Dak Prescott, Josh Allen, and Kyler Murray were all monsters. Even last-minute starter Justin Herbert had a good day with the Los Angeles Chargers.
This week, it’s going to depend on fantasy players to find the points in between the injuries and unfortunate performances. That will be key in making the perfect lineup. Looking at last week’s winning lineup, it was a nice mixture of star players and hitting on the chances. To do it again this week, those chances have to be calculated.
Don’t just run out and grab Devonta Freeman because he’s cheap. Go for the players who look good, but just needed an opportunity.
