It doesn’t sound like Davante Adams is going to play Sunday night
Davante Adams remains unlikely to play Sunday night.
The Green Bay Packers offense has been unstoppable through the first two weeks of the season. The team put up 43 points in Week 1 and followed that up with 42 in Week 2.
The opener saw Davante Adams absolutely embarrass the Minnesota Vikings defense. He had 14 receptions for 156 yards and two touchdowns. He was expected to keep that up in Week 2, but a hamstring strain limited him to three receptions for 36 yards. That same injury has him doubtful to play Sunday night against the New Orleans Saints.

Davante Adams likely out Sunday
Doubtful is not “out”, but this is a bad sign two days before a game. The competition also gets harder against a Saints team likely furious after a loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Week 2 saw Aaron Rodgers spread the ball around without Adams at full strength. Aaron Jones and Marquez Valdes-Scantling each went over 60 yards and Jones had a receiving touchdown to go with his two on the ground. Robert Tonyan also added a receiving touchdown. This was a much different formula from Week 1, but it still resulted in a victory.
The key for the Packers without Adams will be to continue running the ball effectively. The team has run the ball over 30 times in both weeks, thus setting up big plays in the passing game. This balance can still be achieved without Adams if players like Valdes-Scantling and Allen Lazard step up in his absence.

Right now it is still possible the Packers get Adams on Sunday. However, there is a clear strategy in place if he is unavailable. Letting him rest regardless may be the best option anyway given all the season-ending injuries we have seen through two weeks of the season.
