Manchester United prove they’re desperate to sign Jadon Sancho
Manchester United’s decision to make a take it or leave it offer for Jadon Sancho shows just how desperate they are to add the talented attacker.
Jadon Sancho has been atop Manchester United’s shopping list for the duration of the summer transfer window. The Premier League club’s last-ditch attempt to sign the English starlet shows real desperation on behalf of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his managerial team.
According to The Daily Star, United are offering Borussia Dortmund £90 million to clinch a deal for the former Manchester City starlet. Dortmund officials have been adamant that Sancho would not be sold for less than £120 million this summer. The German club even imposed a deadline to sell their prized asset that passed several weeks ago.
The fact that United’s latest offer is being coined a “take it or leave it” offer is borderline laughable. Dortmund officials feel zero pressure to capitulate to United’s demands. Sancho is in no hurry to leave the club that made him a star. He won’t stay at Dortmund forever, but he doesn’t feel any pressure to leave this summer. Sancho understands numerous opportunities will be available to him in the future.
What could Jadon Sancho do for Manchester United?
United officials now seem to understand that their transfer window might be deemed a failure if they can’t bring Sancho back to England. At the moment, Donny van de Beek is the club’s only high-profile transfer signing of the window. He can add quality to the club’s midfield, but he isn’t the goal scorer Solskjaer has prioritized in his conversations with Ed Woodward.
Officials at Old Trafford also understand the competition for Sancho is only going to get more heated in future windows. The likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona also have interest in the English youngster. Neither La Liga team has the funds to satisfy Dortmund’s demands at the moment, but they could easily free up the cash to make a swoop for Sancho next summer.
United’s obvious desperation gives them a small chance to secure a sensational last-minute swoop for Sancho, but the odds are still stacked against him leaving Germany this summer. The English giants have waited too late to sign their top target.
