WWE SmackDown tied up a variety of storylines heading into the PPV WWE Clash of Champions on Sunday.

WWE SmackDown was the last show of the week before the WWE Clash of Champions PPV set for Sunday. Every title is up for grabs this weekend and SmackDown has it’s only stakes in the event. Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Bayley, Jeff Hardy all had something to prove before the PPV and that action occurred on Friday night’s show.

The first match of the night is a direct preview of the Intercontiental title match as Jeff Hardy, Sami Zayn and AJ Styles battled in a triple threat ladder match. This was a non-title affair, but the three men put on a show like the belts were on the line.

Throughout the match, each individual had their opportunity to show their dominance. There were moments where it looked like any of them could come out on top. But in the end, it would be Sami Zayn who would have his hand raised. Styles landed the Phenomenal Forearm on Hardy, laying out the champion. Before he could make the pin, Zayn tossed him over the ropes and pinned Hardy to get the victory.

Gran Metalik had a one-on-one match against one-half of the tag team champions in Shinsuke Nakamura. Nakamura was in control for most of this match as Metalik was clearly the underdog. He did have his moments, including a big dive to the outside. When the action ended back up in the ring, Metalik would eat an Exploder Suplex. That would lead to the Kinshasa and Nakamura picked up the win.

The next match of the night was yet another rematch between Baron Corbin and Matt Riddle. Riddle has proven that he’s the better man more often than not when these two face off. But tonight it was Corbin’s night. Riddle went for much of his standard offense throughout the match, but Corbin had a counter planned for everything. Riddle took over and made the mistake going for the Floating Bro. Corbin got his knees up, causing Riddle to crash down upon them. Riddle bounced up but was put right back down with the End of Days, giving him the much-needed win.

Alexa Bliss and Lacy Evans had an altercation last week that led to this match on Friday night. This was a very competitive, back-and-forth match. Evans remained in control for much of the match, but Bliss kept fighting back to stay in it. That wasn’t the end of the story though as the Fiend’s music would hit and Bliss would fly into a rage, attacking Evans. She assaulted her until the referee called for a disqualification, giving the win to Evans. Bliss wouldn’t leave before hitting the Sister Abigail on Evans for the second week in a row.
