FanDuel DFS Golf: Corales Resort Championship Final Round Player Picks
By Hans Geevers
This Sunday, the FanDuel/DFS community will be presented with the final round of the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship. Let’s take a look at the final round slate from a fantasy golf perspective!
Before I discuss my FanDuel player selections I want to clearly state that this article is specifically focused on the final round contest. The final round contest is vastly different with regard to scoring than the traditional contest offered by FanDuel for DFS golf.
If you are not familiar with the rules for the final round contest I recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.
Here are my player selections for the final round of the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship.
Henrik Stenson $10,800
Yes, I know that Stenson has not had any good results lately. Having stated that, I am going to take a chance on him in this final round contest. Why? Frankly, Stenson is a much better golfer than most of this week’s field. Let us not forget that Stenson won the 2013 FedEx Cup.
In relation to this week’s field, after two rounds of competitive play at the Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship, Stenson currently ranks sixth in driving accuracy and 19th in GIR (greens in regulation).
Denny McCarthy $10,500
McCarthy has two previous top 26 finishes at this week’s event, including a fourth place result in 2018. It should also be mentioned that McCarthy shot a final round 63 at the Wyndham Championship in August.
As of this writing (Friday evening), after two rounds of competitive play at the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship, McCarthy is tied for 30th with a two round cumulative score of five under par.
Sepp Straka $10,200
The Austrian has four top 18 finishes in his last eight events on the PGA Tour, including an eighth place result at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in July.
Thomas Detry $9,900
The 27 year old Belgian plays the majority of his golf on the European Tour. Having stated that, Detry has compiled four top 17 finishes in his last six events on the European Tour, including a second place result at the Celtic Classic in August.
Brian Stuard $9,900
The American arrives at this week’s event on the heels of a third place finish at the Safeway Open two weeks ago.
Additionally, Stuard’s average score in his last six final rounds played on the PGA Tour is 67.66.
David Hearn $8,700
The 41 year old Canadian fired a final round 69 at the Safeway Open two weeks ago on his way to a 14th place finish.
After two rounds of play at the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship, in relation to the field, Hearn is currently ranked second in driving accuracy and seventh in GIR (greens in regulation).
It should also be noted that Hearn finished 18th at the 2019 Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship.
