The 2-0 Miami Hurricanes look to take advantage of a Florida State Seminoles team that will be without their head coach Saturday night.
Last Saturday night, the Miami Hurricanes picked up one of the biggest wins so far in the early part of the 2020 college football season. In the first meeting of the season between two ranked opponents, Miami traveled to Louisville to take on the Cardinals in a pivotal ACC match up and came away with s 47-34 victory. Quarterback D’Eriq King was contained as a runner, but lit up the Cardinals secondary, throwing for 325 yards and three touchdowns, and finished with 77.3 QBR.
But the Miami run game was not completely shut down as Cam’Ron Harris had himself a game, rushing for 134 yards and one score on just nine carries. And Miami’s defense did it’s best defending Louisville as the Cardinals surpassed 500 total yards on offense and won the possession battle by 17 minutes, but the Hurricanes forced three turnovers that would be a huge difference-maker in the outcome of this one.
The Hurricanes play host to the Florida State Seminoles who lost to Georgia Tech in their first game of the season and then took another loss during their off week as head coach Mike Norvell tested positive for the coronavirus and will be forced to sit out his first game in this rivalry. The Seminoles could not get much going in their season opener, passing for under 200 yards and rushing for just over 100 yards, and committing three turnovers on offense. And on defense, if the Seminoles had not forced two turnovers in the first half, could have lost by a lot more than just a field goal as they gave up over 430 yards of offense.
Miami wants to continue their hot start and take on a vulnerable Florida State team that is desperate to right their ship without their captain aboard. Can the Seminoles step up and get the upset? Or are the Hurricanes going to have a night filled with school-themed jewelry?
