The Kansas State Wildcats pulled off the massive upset over the Oklahoma Sooners and celebrated like crazy in the locker room.
This weekend of the college football season was supposed to be headlined by the start of the SEC campaign. However, the conference took a backseat to the Big 12, which had the biggest upset of the year. The third-ranked Oklahoma Sooners entered this weekend riding high after dominating Missouri State and looked to do the same against the unranked Kansas State Wildcats. That didn’t happen.
Kansas State was down by three touchdowns midway through the third quarter but was able to come from behind to win by the score of 38-35. Pulling off a victory like this calls for a celebration, and that’s exactly what the Wildcats did in the locker room.

When you beat the No. 3 team in the country, you dance
The Wildcats were down 35-14 at one point in the second half, which would normally serve as a death-nail to any unranked team facing one of the top football programs in the nation. But not for Kansas State. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Wildcats are the fifth unranked team to defeat an AP top-three team after trailing by at least 14 points at halftime since 1936. Additionally, Kansas State is the second team to ever beat a top-five team while trailing by 21 points since 2004, per ESPN Stats and Info.
Plenty of credit can be given to Kansas State’s defense, as they forced four turnovers throughout the contest, including three interceptions off Sooner quarterback Spencer Rattler. Wildcats quarterback Skyler Thompson threw for 334 yards and a touchdown while rushing for three scores on nine carries. And they did it while being shorthanded on the depth chart!
Pat yourselves on the backs for a job well done, Wildcats. Just don’t do any partying.
