Lakers vs, Nuggets: Western Conference Finals Game 5 live stream reddit
By Scott Rogust
The Los Angeles Lakers are looking to close out the Denver Nuggets to reach their first NBA Finals in a decade.
It’s been a full 10 years since the Los Angeles Lakers last made it to the NBA Finals, where they defeated the Boston Celtics in seven games. On Saturday evening, LeBron James and Anthony Davis have the chance to clinch their ticket to the championship game, but they’ll have to contend with a plucky Denver Nuggets team.
Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals was tightly contested after three quarters of action, but it was James who became the difference maker of the contest. James showed up when it mattered most, and he didn’t do it by making buckets. Rather, he did so by locking down the Nuggets on defense. In fact, players guarded by LeBron were 0-6 in the fourth quarter. That helped the Lakers grab the 114-108 victory and the 3-1 series lead, but it’s far from safe.
The Nuggets have remained in the Orlando, Fla. bubble, thanks in part to their propensity of overcoming series deficits to advance all the way to the Conference Final. The Nuggets were down 3-1 to the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers, and advanced due to their never-say-die attitude.
For Denver to pull off the 3-1 three-peat, they’d need guard Jamal Murray to heat up. While Murray has averaged 26.5 points through four games against Los Angeles, he was limited to 21 points in Game 4, which can definitely be credited to James shutting him down. Denver showed they are capable of pulling off the miracle, but that could be hard to do against the Lakers.
