Tottenham are struggling to find a suitable loan for Ryan Sessegnon
Tottenham wants to find Ryan Sessegnon a quality loan to help advance his career, but it’s proving ng to be a tricky process for Spurs.
Ryan Sessegnon is still a part of Tottenham’s long-term plans, but he doesn’t have a path towards regular playing time this season. That’s why the club wants to find him a high-quality loan. Unfortunately, they face one major obstacle when it comes to finding Sessegnon the right opportunity.
Jose Mourinho and the higher-ups at the Premier League club see Sessegnon’s future at the left back position. The presence of both Ben Davies and Sergio Reguilon at the club means he’s surplus to requirements this season.
Tottenham is struggling with what to do about Ryan Sessegnon
According to The Telegraph, several clubs are more than willing to take him on if they can play him as an attacking winger. That’s a real problem for Spurs. They are desperately searching for a club that are willing to deploy him as a left back. Finding him game time as an attacker really won’t help prepare him to return to Tottenham and fight for a first-team place next season.
It remains to be seen whether or not Spurs are open to the idea of parting with Sessegnon permanently. If they can’t find another club willing to loan him as a left back, they may explore what bids are out there to complete a permanent transfer. Quite a few clubs would be more than willing to pay a significant fee for the English youngster. Even so, it’s likely that Tottenham would need to take a loss on the fee they originally paid Fulham for his signature.
Add it all up and it’s easy to see why Sessegnon is still at Tottenham currently. The club will continue to work feverishly to find him a loan until they’ve exhausted every possible solution to their current predicament. Sessegnon still has plenty of time to cement his future with the North London club.
