The Texas A&M Aggies are looking to make the jump in 2020 and will use the Vanderbilt Commodores in their season opener to iron out the details.

The Texas A&M Aggies enter 2020 with the players and the coaches to make their presence known in not only the SEC but in all of college football. Since joining the SEC in 2012, the Aggies have always been competitive within the conference and have come away with some big wins, but those seasons usually ended with just seven to nine wins and resulted in a bowl game with a name longer than the stadium it’s played in. But since Jimbo Fisher took over as head coach, the competitiveness has improved and expectations have grown.

And if there was any year for them to prove themselves, it would be this year. They have one of the most experienced quarterbacks in the country and talented skill players on offense, and a strong pass rush backed by one of the biggest and strongest secondaries on defense. Again, the Aggies have the talent needed to win an SEC title, but their schedule is probably one of the toughest in all of college football. Texas A&M plays Alabama and Florida in consecutive weeks, and then still have LSU, Tennessee, Auburn on the schedule.

Vanderbilt enters 2020 with practically a brand new team, primarily at the positions that matter, and will likely be one of the worst teams in the SEC. And with a team that went 1-7 in conference play last year, there’s only way to go and that is up, however, Vanderbilt might not win a game at all this season. So Commodore fans, it’s not going to be pretty this season, but I’m sure you all know that.

Texas A&M is ready to prove that they are more than just a middle-tiered team and in preparation for their grueling schedule, will use the Commodores as a tune-up game. Hopefully, Vanderbilt can find some small things to build on going forward this season.

Here’s how to watch and bet on the Vanderbilt vs Texas A&M game.

  • Stadium: Kyle Field
  • TV Info: SECN
  • Odds: Texas A&M -31, O/U 46.5

Prediction: This game will not be close. The Aggies will be too much to handle on offense and their defense will be like a brick wall for the Commodores. Kellen Mond will kick off his final season in College Station with a big game, spreading the ball around and getting chemistry formed with some of his newer targets. A&M’s secondary has itself a day, forcing three interceptions as the Aggies’ defense gets a score of their own. The Aggies tune-up game goes perfectly as A&M opens up with a win.

Score: Texas A&M 47, Vanderbilt 16.
