The Bears game against the Falcons on Sunday was filled with drama for Chicago

Ryan Pace just signed Tarik Cohen to a three-year extension. One week after he was given a surprisingly low number of touches in their Week 2 win, Cohen went down with an injury against the Falcons. Cohen was back retuning a punt when a Falcon unintentionally slid into his legs. The running back went down with what’s being termed a knee injury, and he couldn’t put any weight on his leg.

Cohen is being outplayed by Jordan Montgomery, who still has some time left on his contract. This made the decision to sign Cohen to an extension all the more confusing.

Sadly, Cohen is out for the season with an ACL tear.

Cohen’s injury was far from the only storyline on Sunday

The Falcons coming out of the gates strong after their disastrous loss last Sunday to Dallas isn’t necessarily surprising. Matt Nagy running out of patience with Mitchell Trubisky was, especially after he’d supposedly been showing some improvement early in the year.

The Bears benched Trubisky, as he went 13-of-21 for 128 yards and a touchdown. This led to Nick Foles’ insertion into the game, who didn’t fair much better and threw an interception in the end zone. Overall, the Bears need their strong running game to sustain any offensive success.

Cohen’s health is more imperative now than ever.

dark. Next. Bears finally, mercifully decided to bench Mitchell Trubisky
