The Cubs superstar third baseman had a message for everyone who’s chiming in on his poor 2020 season

The Cubs clinched the NL Central Saturday night despite losing to the White Sox 9-5, but one of the highlights from the game was Kris Bryant’s return to the Cubs lineup after missing four games with an oblique strain.

And Bryant returned in a big way, going 2-4 while smashing a grand slam that was long overdue. However, it was only Bryant’s third home run on the season, and the four RBI he drove in on his grand slam almost doubled his season RBI total – jumping from five to nine after Saturday night.

Bryant is currently batting .205 on the season but was below the Mendoza line at .195 prior to Saturday night, likely due to Bryant’s myriad of injuries he’s dealt with this season. So it’s understandable that Bryant may be frustrated with his performance, but he’s apparently tired of hearing it from the fans and media.

Bryant is back just in time for the postseason

Bryant, who’s typically a mild-mannered player known for going out of his way to avoid cursing, let the media have it last night when asked about his poor season.

Cubs fans should be amped up to see a response like this from Bryant, who was already motivated to produce for this Cubs team after an offseason filled with trade rumors and news updates on his grievance case that he eventually lost.

Bryant, when healthy, is clearly one of the best players in baseball — he’s a three-time All-Star and is only four seasons removed from an MVP season in his age 24. But haters are going to hate, which is fine with Kris Bryant because he doesn’t care – apparently.

And good for Bryant. The MLB has been one of the last sports to embark on the “player empowerment” movement we’ve seen in the NBA and NFL, which has more to do with ownership in baseball than anything else. But it’s going to take franchise players like Bryant to continue to speak out for that change to happen in the MLB.

Kris Bryant haters have been warned.

dark. Next. Cubs not shutting down Kris Bryant for the season just yet
