MLB postseason field officially set after Sunday’s action

The 2020 MLB playoff field is set.
The 2020 MLB postseason is letting in less teams after a shortened season, but the drama inherent in the playoffs will still be plentiful. After one last day of pulse-pounding action, the 2020 field has officially been set.
The 16-team playoff field for 2020 has officially been confirmed, with the Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Dodgers each snatching the No. 1 seed in their respective leagues.
Both the AL and NL have some really intriguing matchups
By virtue of having the top seed, Tampa Bay and LA will take on the two worst teams who snuck into the postseason. Christian Yelich and the Milwaukee Brewers will take on the Dodgers, while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Toronto Blue Jays will play their old division foe in Tampa Bay.
The No. 2 seeds, the Minnesota Twins in the AL and the Atlanta Braves in the NL, will play against the Houston Astros and Cincinnati Reds, respectively. In the 3-6 matchups, the NL will sport the Chicago Cubs against the upstart Miami Marlins, while the No. 3 seed Oakland Athletics will take on the Chicago White Sox in the junior circuit.
The two 4-5 matchups are as close as they come. The New York Yankees will butt heads with the Cleveland Indians, while the San Diego Padres and St. Louis Cardinals will face off in the senior circuit.
AL playoff games will be split between San Diego and Los Angeles, while the NL will shuffle between Arlington and Houston. The World Series will be played at the Texas Rangers’ new ballpark in Arlington.
The 2020 MLB regular season might be a bit of the unusual side in several facets, but that should do little to take the excitement and fun out of the postseason.
