These four NFL quarterbacks need to take a seat after their Week 4 performance.

It’s Week 3 of the 2020 NFL season, but we’re still getting bad quarterback play league-wide.

We can’t blame a lack of a preseason for some of these marquee quarterbacks struggling so badly in late September. Again, this is still a very small sample size, but we can make some slight convictions with a few of these early-season observations. The biggest takeaway from Week 3 is if your quarterback doesn’t play well, we notice and he might have to get benched before Week 4.

The Philadelphia Eagles need to consider making a change at the quarterback position. It’s pretty clear that Carson Wentz is not going to become the NFL MVP superstar candidate he was back as a second-year pro in 2017. He has been extended by the team, but has not been the same player since getting hurt vs. the Los Angeles Rams there years ago. Let’s see what Jalen Hurts can do.

There is a reason the Eagles used a second-round pick on Hurts in this past spring’s draft. Not only is he arguably the most universally praised quarterback in college football history, but he got better each season in college, first at Alabama and then at Oklahoma. The Eagles will get the mobility and accuracy of Wentz, but maybe a lift in leadership this reeling franchise needs.

Wentz completed 29-of-46 passes for 225 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. For a game that the Eagles had to win, he was largely outplayed by 2019 Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow making his third career start for the Cincinnati Bengals. This was a gimme game for the Eagles and they got another uninspiring performance out of Wentz. He needs to be better.

The good news for the Eagles is even if they go with Hurts over Wentz at the San Francisco 49ers, they still play in the putrid NFC East. The only quarterback playing with any level of confidence right now is Dak Prescott with the Dallas Cowboys. Hurts has shown he’s a versatile playmaker in college who can pick up an offense quick. Regardless, the Eagles aren’t winning because of Wentz.
