Ron Rivera’s headed to Cleveland to take on the well-rested Browns. Washington has had its problems early in games and fell behind by 10 in the second quarter. But the team owned a 20-17 fourth-quarter lead thanks in part to Dwayne Haskins, who finished with 224 passing yards and a pair of scores but was also sacked three times, picked off three times and lost one of his two fumbles. Washington was outscored 17-0 in the fourth quarter.
Doug Marrone’s club hosted the 0-2 Dolphins and would be completely overwhelmed by Brian Flores’ team. After scoring 27 and 30 points, respectively, in a split with the Colts (win) and Titans (loss), the Jaguars struggled to sustain drives against a Miami defense that had its issues in their first two games. Jacksonville was 3-for-10 on third down, 0-for-3 on fourth down and Gardner Minshew was sacked four times and committed two turnovers.
The hot seat in Detroit figured to get a little warmer if the Lions failed to snap their 11-game losing streak on Sunday. And the Lions did trail by three entering the fourth quarter. Veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford was sacked four times but Matt Patricia’s team did not turn over the football and picked off Kyler Murray three times. Stafford for two scores and Matt Prater connected on all four field goal attempts, including a 39-yarder at the gun.
