DISCLAIMER: Gage did leave Sunday’s game with an injury. Monitor his status as the week goes on.

So far, the Atlanta Falcons have had one of the more potent offenses in the NFL. In Week 1 against the Seahawks, they had 506 total yards and 434 through the air. In Week 2, Matt Ryan and company racked up another 380 total yards and scored 39 points. Week 3, they scored another 26
points.

Calvin Ridley, Julio Jones, and Russell Gage all rank towards the top of the league in receiving yards. Ridley is not necessarily surprising, and Jones is a familiar member on the list each year. However, Cage is the one not many people pegged to be a productive member of the team’s receiving corps this early.

In the first game of the year, Cage had nine catches on 12 targets for 114 yards. In Week 2, his reception number dropped to six on nine targets for 46 yards.

Atlanta will travel to Green Bay to play the Packers on Monday Night Football in Week 4. The Packers have been a good football team so far, and the defense poises a more difficult matchup than the teams the Falcons have already played.

Some fantasy general managers may be alarmed by Gage’s quiet day against the Chicago Bears in Week 3.Ā However, the Falcons and Ryan have been able to move the ball well, and scoring points has not been too challenging. Keeping those leads has been the issue.

With Jones and Ridley receiving most of the attention, it is pretty simple to understand why Cage is valuable. Even with those two ā€œtakingā€ targets, he still sees a lot of attention.
