Eagles TE Dallas Goedert to miss significant time with fractured ankle
More rough news has come in for the Philadelphia Eagles, this time with Dallas Goedert set to miss an extended amount of time with an ankle injury.
Where’s the luck for the Philadelphia Eagles and head coach Doug Pederson? After starting the season 0-2, the team was hoping to record its first win of the year on Sunday against the Bengals, but they ended up tying 23-23 instead.
To make matters worse, tight end Dallas Goedert suffered an ankle injury in the middle of the action and was unable to return. While the hope was it was just a sprain, Goedert has actually suffered a fractured ankle and will be sidelined for a while.
Dallas Goedert suffering a fractured ankle is yet another blow for Carson Wentz and Philadelphia
Before going down early with his injury, Goedert had hauled in one reception from Carson Wentz for seven yards. Thus far this season, the 6-foot-5, 255-pounder had posted 13 receptions for 138 yards and one touchdown, highlighted by his Week 1 showing. In that game against the Washington Football Team, Goedert caught eight balls for 101 yards and a score.
The latest injury update on Goedert just adds to the complete headache for Philadelphia this season. The team already saw first-round pick Jalen Reagor suffer a thumb injury that will sideline him multiple weeks, while veteran wideout Alshon Jeffery is still trying to work his way back.
In the tie with the Bengals, veteran speedster DeSean Jackson suffered a hamstring injury too and was ruled out for the rest of the game. With Goedert now out, the list of weapons Wentz has at his disposal continues to shrink. Eagles fans are hoping their luck will change soon, as 2020 has been a season to forget three weeks in.
