FanDuel Golf: Sanderson Farms Championship player picks
By Hans Geevers
FanDuel will provide a large number of DFS contests for this week’s Sanderson Farms Championship! Let’s take a look at this week’s PGA Tour event from a fantasy golf perspective.
Before I discuss my FanDuel player selections I wanted to clearly state that the purpose of this article is not to provide a specific lineup. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a FanDuel GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!
Here are my FanDuel player selections for the 2021 Sanderson Farms Championship!
Scottie Scheffler $12,300
Scheffler arrives at this week’s event on the heels of five consecutive top 15 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a fourth place result at the PGA Championship in August.
*It should be noted that Scheffler was unable to play in the U.S. Open due to a positive COVID-19 test. This week’s tournament will be his first event played on the PGA Tour since his positive test.
In relation to this week’s current listed field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Scheffler ranks first in strokes gained tee to green, first in GIR (greens in regulation), and third in strokes gained approach.
Sam Burns $11,200
The 24 year old has three top 28 finishes in his last four events on the PGA Tour, including a seventh place result at the Safeway Open three weeks ago.
Zach Johnson $10,500
The American has two top eight finishes in his last three events on the PGA Tour, including an impressive eighth place result at the U.S. Open two weeks ago. Additionally, Johnson finished 14th at the 2020 Sanderson Farms Championship.
Charley Hoffman $9,500
The 43 year old American finished 14th at last week’s Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship.
In relation to this week’s current listed field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Hoffman ranks fifth in GIR (greens in regulation), eighth in proximity to the hole from 125-150 yards, and 20th in strokes gained putting.
Cameron Davis $9,400
The Australian has three top 29 finishes in his last five events played on the PGA Tour, including a 12th place result at the 3M Open in July.
In relation to this week’s current listed field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Davis ranks first in strokes gained putting and first in strokes gained on par fives.
D.J. Trahan $7,000
The American finished 14th at the Safeway Open last month. He also finished seventh at the 2019 Sanderson Farms Championship.
Trahan arrives on the FanDuel slate at the bargain basement price of only $7,000. I think Trajan is definitely worth a spot in a few GPP (guaranteed prize pool) lineups at that low price.
