Fantasy Football stars and studs in Week 3: MVP contenders dominate

Patrick Mahomes headlined several dominant QB displays in fantasy.

Star quarterbacks dominated Week 3 in fantasy football, as a trio of MVP candidates at the position all enjoyed dominant performances.

Reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes delighted Kansas City Chiefs fans, fantasy football owners, and all admirers of dazzling offensive football with a frightening display in the Chiefs’ 34-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football.

Mahomes completed 31-of-42 passes for 385 yards and four touchdowns while running for another as the Chiefs reasserted their dominance in the AFC, with the 2018 MVP’s haul of 40 fantasy points leading all quarterbacks.

For as much as Mahomes continues to redefine what is possible for an NFL quarterback, he does have significant competition in the MVP race and two of his leading challengers also delivered fantasy matchup-winning displays in Week 3.

A rookie first-round pick provided hope for those looking for a boost at the wide receiver position as the Minnesota Vikings suffered a gut-wrenching defeat.

In New Orleans and New England, there were ultra-productive showings from running backs that reinforced the position’s importance in fantasy but will likely only further polarize the ‘do running backs matter’ debate given the contrast in reputation of the two players.

Here we look at some of the top-scoring fantasy displays from Week 3 and assess what they mean for owners going forward.
