Fantasy Football stars and studs in Week 3: MVP contenders dominate
Alvin Kamara – New Orleans Saints
Unsurprisingly, Kamara was the top-scoring player in PPR leagues after his remarkable game in the Saints’ 37-30 defeat to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football, which saw him catch 13 of his 14 targets from Drew Brees.
Kamara finished with 139 receiving yards and two touchdowns through the air including an incredible 52-yard catch and run in the third quarter.
He also added 58 yards on the ground on just six carries for good measure. In other words, for large periods of this Superdome shootout, Kamara was the New Orleans offense.
And there is plenty of reason to believe that will continue to be the case as the 1-2 Saints attempt to pick up momentum following a disappointing start.
The Saints hope Michael Thomas will return from a high ankle sprain that has seen him miss the last two games in Week 4. There is no guarantee, however, that Thomas will be immediately back to his best and, while there are signs of a developing rapport with Emmanuel Sanders, questions remain over Drew Brees’ abilities as a downfield thrower at age 41.
Kamara will likely continue to be a favorite target of Brees and, with the defenses of the Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers, and Carolina Panthers on the horizon in the coming weeks, he is a player who should soon be producing further fantasy matchup-winning performances.
