Game 1 of their best-of-three NL Wild Card series takes place at Wrigley Field on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The No. 3 Cubs will have Kyle Hendricks making the start, as he’ll go against Sandy Alcantara and the No. 6 Marlins. While the Cubs have made plenty of trips to the postseason this century, this is the Marlins’ first trip to October since winning the 2003 World Series 17 years ago.

Chicago got off to a terrific 13-3 start in the 2020 MLB season. Though the Cubs cooled off significantly, they still managed to win the NL Central by taking care of business of their South Side rivals in the Chicago White Sox in the final series of the season. This is David Ross‘ first year as their manager, as he looks to build off all the good stuff Joe Maddon did in his managerial stint.
Miami overcame all the odds to finish in second place in the NL East to get the No. 6 seed in the postseason field. Projected to come in last in a stacked division, the Marlins are one of only two teams who got in out of the NL East this year, along with the Atlanta Braves. If Don Mattingly doesn’t win NL Manager of the Year, they need to stop handing out the award all together.
