5 NFL head coaches who should have been fired already
We’re only entering Week 4 of the NFL schedule, but five coaches should have already gotten the axe from their respective teams.
The NFL is a ruthless business that has no time or space for underachievers. That means head coaches around the league need to produce consistent results or start polishing up their resumes. Even though we’re only entering Week 4 of the 2020 NFL schedule, it’s clear that some teams are postponing the inevitable by continuing to employ their respective head coaches.
Some might call firing a coach this early in the season a panic move. On the contrary, it gives the next head coach a legitimate chance to turn around the team’s fortunes this season. Several teams that are off to disastrous starts have the talent required to reach the postseason. A coaching change for those teams could be vital to securing the postseason for teams in that position.
Other coaches simply need to be fired because of their sheer incompetence. Without delay, read on to discover the five NFL head coaches who should already be standing in the unemployment line.
5. Anthony Lynn
Lynn piloted the Chargers to an ugly Week 1 victory over the Bengals but enters Week 4 on the back of two consecutive losses. Losing to the Chiefs in overtime was an accomplishment for Los Angeles. Failing to defeat the lowly Panthers was an inexcusable result for Lynn and his staff.
The Chargers need to shift their immediate priority to doing everything possible to get Justin Herbert ready to play good football in 2021. The sheer idea that Lynn still considers Tyrod Taylor as the team’s starter points to his lack of suitability to preside over that project.
As such, Los Angeles needs to bring in a bright, innovative young offensive coach at their earliest opportunity. Lynn is just keeping the chair warm until the Chargers’ front office identifies that candidate. The sooner this franchise gives Herbert the right coach the better off their future is going to look.
