The Chicago Cubs will look to keep their season alive in Game 2 of their NL Wild Card Round showdown with the Miami Marlins on Thursday. 

After the Miami Marlins took down the Chicago Cubs in Game 1 of the Wild Card Round battle on Wednesday, the NL East squad is one win away from moving on in the MLB postseason. As for the Cubs, Chicago’s season is on the respirator, as they need to come away with a win on Thursday to stave off elimination.

Obviously, there’s plenty on the line come Thursday when these two teams face off in Game 2. So, who will end up coming out on top?

What to watch for in Marlins vs. Cubs Game 2

After losing Game 1, the Cubs indeed have to win on Thursday in order to keep their season going. With that being said, skipper David Ross will be giving the ball to veteran hurler Yu Darvish to start Game 2 after Kyle Hendricks got the nod on Wednesday for Game 1.

Darvish was sensational during the shortened 60-game season, going 8-3 with a 2.01 ERA. His eight wins were tied for most in the bigs, while his ERA was good enough to come in fourth. With there being plenty of pressure on the Cubbies on Thursday, we’ll see if Darvish will be able to step up and answer the call for his club.

For the Marlins, their sluggers will look to get to Darvish early and often. Meanwhile rookie Sixto Sanchez will start Game 2. He also impressed during the regular season, going 3-2 with a 3.46 ERA.
