Former Miami Heat forward Dorell Wright shared how the team could slow down LeBron James.

The Miami Heat had no answers for LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. James finished with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists as he just missed another triple-double. The Heat now have some firsthand experience to use as a plan to stop James in Game 2. Or at least to slow him down.

One former player has some tips as well. Dorell Wright was with the Heat from 2004-2010 after being taken No. 19 overall in the 2004 draft. His career since then has seen him play overseas and he even briefly returned to Miami at the end of the 2015-16 season.

Now he spends his time watching the game and talking about it with fellow NBAers on The Player Tribune’s ‘Text Message Talk Show’.

Wright sat down with FanSided’s Mark Carman and discussed how the Heat can defend James and he shared some great insight. The interview can be seen in the video at the top of this article and the discussion on James begins at the 10:45 mark.

Dorell Wright’s advice for the Heat

Wright’s ideal plan is to get in James’ face and “aggravate and irritate him.” He also likes the idea of making sure to put a hard foul on the living legend whenever possible.

Perhaps the most fun part of Wright’s take is when he predicts this series will have an old school feel. He specifically brought up the past battles between the Heat and New York Knicks back during a time when physicality was just a regular part of the game.

The entire interview is a must-watch as Carman and Wright go through the player’s fascinating professional career. There are plenty of facts some NBA fans may be surprised to hear.

He also discusses his innovative Text Message Talk Show. Professional athletes always have insider stories to share and this interview is no different. Now Heat fans will have to hope Wright’s advice will be taken by the team to slow down James and the Lakers in order to bring back another title to Miami.
