Trevor Bauer grieving playoff defeat by calling out Astros fans
By John Buhler
Trevor Bauer kicks the Houston Astros fanbase after being ousted in the postseason.
Trevor Bauer‘s 2020 MLB season might be over, but he had a few closing messages on Twitter.
The outspoken right-handed ace for the Cincinnati Reds pitched a gem of a ballgame opposite of Max Fried in Game 1 of the NL Wild Card series vs. the Atlanta Braves. Though Cincinnati couldn’t score a single run in this best-of-seven series, Bauer thanked Reds fans, threw some shade at Braves fans and owned Houston Astros fans in one tweet. Never change, Trevor. Never change.
Trevor Bauer’s impending free agency will be utterly fascinating.
Bauer will be hitting free agency this winter. He spent the last year and change with the Reds after being traded at the deadline last year by the Cleveland Indians. Though he has a one-of-a-kind personality, any fanbase with a brain would love for him to sign with their team in the offseason. The Southern California native may go back home to the West Coast, but he won’t go to Houston.
He may want to re-up with the Reds because they have an excellent pitching staff and a team that is on the rise. Throwing shade at Braves Country isn’t the best idea because Atlanta’s championship window is wide open for the next few years. Could you imagine a rotation with Bauer, Fried, Ian Anderson, Mike Soroka and Kyle Wright? A Braves fan can only dream of that.
While he’s the hottest pitching commodity on the open market this winter, keep in mind his new contract may not be as robust as we thought it would be a season ago. Though he thrived in his first full year with the Reds, as Bauer might win the NL Cy Young Award, having only a 60-game season with no fans in attendance will effect everyone’s bottom line in baseball.
Even though the Astros got off essentially Scot free this season, everybody in baseball still hates them, especially Bauer. We all grieve differently, but this is one hilarious way to do it in a public manner.
The feeling is mutual, as Bauer and Astros fans have no chance to ever get along whatsoever.
