3 offseason moves the White Sox must make after early playoff exit

The White Sox were bounced from the 2020 postseason, but here are three moves they can make to go further in 2021.

The South-Siders proved they are ready to contend this season, finishing in 2nd place of the AL Central despite spending 22 days in 1st place before the Twins took the division late. They drew a tough opponent in Oakland, who has the best bullpen ERA in baseball this year at 2.72, and it was the bullpen that silenced the Chicago bats after taking the lead in Game 3.

However, there is plenty to be happy about with the White Sox, who had the best offense in baseball this year according to Fangraphs with a 13.8 fWAR. The White Sox lead the American League in home runs this season and only the Dodgers and Braves hit more long balls than them in all of baseball.

But in their final game of the season, the White Sox most glaring flaws on their roster were exposed by the Athletics – starting pitching and depth on their bench. And it didn’t help that manager Rick Renteria made some questionable decisions in Game 3, but that man isn’t going anywhere, White Sox fans.
