Bears-Colts game moving to late window to replace Patriots-Chiefs

The Indianapolis Colts will face the Chicago Bears in the late afternoon window now.

CBS picked the Indianapolis Colts‘ game at the Chicago Bears as its late afternoon replacement.

With the featured late window game between the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs being postponed, probably to Tuesday night, because of positive coronavirus tests, this makes sense for CBS to pivot like this. Chicago is 3-0 on the year, while Indianapolis is 2-1 after dropping its first game of the season to the division rival Jacksonville Jaguars on the road.

It may not be Patriots-Chiefs, but Bears-Colts should be an exciting game.

Sunday afternoon’s new featured game will have Philip Rivers going up against Nick Foles. One will be a future Pro Football Hall of Famer, while the other already has a statue of him outside of a stadium of a team he doesn’t even play for anymore. It may get wonky with more than its fair share of interceptions, but the winner of this game will give off the vibes of a playoff team.

Chicago needs to keep pace with the Green Bay Packers in NFC North play. By doing so, it will help the Monsters of the Midway compete for a division crown or get into the playoff mix as a Wild Card team. Indianapolis could move within half a game of the AFC South lead because the undefeated Tennessee Titans are not playing this weekend due to their coronavirus outbreak.

Though the Bears and Colts aren’t seen as top-10 teams in the league right now, the winner may assert themselves into that conversation. Chicago getting to 4-0 can’t be denied, as this would be the best team the Bears will have beaten. As for the Colts, they’d be riding a three-game winning streak and would have handed an undefeated team its first loss of the season on the road.

The only thing we know this season is the NFL and television networks must remain flexible.
