After eight ranked teams in the AP Top 25 fell, the new college football rankings have a radically new look, but Clemson and Alabama continue to vie for the top spot.

It didn’t take long into Saturday afternoon’s slate for the first upset to take place. While the big game of the day was a primetime matchup between Auburn and Georgia, there were some intriguing matchups early that will actually shake up the Top 25.

Pitt found itself down 17-7 early on against NC State at home but it stormed back behind the strong arm of Kenny Pickett to take a 23-17 lead. The two teams traded scores in the fourth and it ended with an Emeka Emezie touchdown to give the Wolfpack the lead for good with under 30 seconds left. The Pitt bandwagon is emptying quickly while NC State is 2-1.

Just minutes after the conclusion of the Pitt loss, Texas found itself in a similar situation, needed just a field goal to beat TCU, but the Longhorns fell to the Horned Frogs 33-31 at home.

Texas is, in fact, not back.

The afternoon slate was a little less intriguing outside of a Texas A&M versus Alabama ranked battle but that turned into a snoozefest really quickly. The game was tied at 14-14 and it looked to be a great game in Tuscaloosa, but Alabama quickly pulled away.

The night slate featured one of the most anticipated games of the week as Georgia hosted Auburn and jumped out to a 24-0 lead. Georgia ended up dominating for the remainder of the game, holding a three-touchdown lead late, but the Bulldogs still have plenty of work to do if they’re going to be on the same page as Alabama.
