Newcastle face Burnley at St. James’ Park on Saturday, Oct. 3. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Newcastle picked up four points in their first games of the season. On Saturday, the Magpies host Burnley at St. James’ Park. The Clarets have lost their first two games to start the season.
Newcastle were the beneficiaries of the controversial handball ruling in their last game. VAR awarded the Magpies a penalty in the 97th minute against Tottenham. Callum Wilson converted the penalty to steal a point. Wilson has scored twice since joining Newcastle from demoted Bournemouth. The English striker will be the key player in Newcastle’s attack on Saturday. Wilson was one of three players that Newcastle poached from relegated clubs during the transfer window. That transfer strategy was an intelligent way for the club to add three starting-caliber players at a below-market value transfer fee. In addition to Wilson, Ryan Fraser and Jamal Lewis will both feature on Saturday for Newcastle.
Burnley are one of three Premier League teams that are still looking for their first win this season. Manager Sean Dyche’s team will need every point they can get as they figure to be battling against the relegation zone this season. That task will become ever more difficult for the Clarets if defender James Tarkowski leaves the club at the end of the transfer window. Burnley will continue to be a very conservative defensive club under Dyche, with goals being at a premium. The Clarets will turn to Chris Wood to score goals this season. Since joining Burnley, Wood has scored 34 goals in 94 Premier League games.
