Arsenal has started the season with six points in their first three games of the Premier League season as they look to return to the top six again this year. On Sunday, the Gunners host Sheffield United at Emirates Stadium. The Blades are one of three Premier League teams that have yet to pick up a point this season.
Arsenal started the season with wins over fellow London clubs Fulham and West Ham. In their last Premier League game, the Gunners were outclassed by Liverpool, losing 3-1. After last season’s eighth-place finish, Arsenal are looking to finish in the top six this season. The Gunners will look to bounce back against a struggling Sheffield United team. Arsenal will be led up front by their captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabon striker has scored 22 goals in each of the last two seasons.
Sheffield United’s ninth-place finish was one of the most surprising results last season. The Blades have come crashing back to earth to start this season. Manager Chris Wilder’s team has yet to score a goal this season. While the club is still strong defensively, they will have to start scoring goals if they are going to avoid relegation for a second straight season.
Despite being one of the financially smaller clubs in the Premier League, the Blades did spend money in the transfer window. The most interesting and perhaps impactful signing was that of Rhian Brewster from Liverpool for €26 million. The 20-year-old Brewster is a highly-regarded prospect who scored 10 goals in the Championship last season while on loan with Swansea. The Blades will need immediate returns from Brewster if they are going to last season’s club goal tally of 39.
