Davante Adams headlines Packers inactives for Monday Night Football
Davante Adams will miss the Green Bay Packers Monday Night Football tilt with the Falcons.
Aaron Rodgers already doesn’t have enough targets at receiver. On Monday Night Football he’ll have to make do with one less.
Davante Adams is set to miss his second-straight game for the Packers because of a hamstring injury.
Along with Adams, the Packers declared quarterback Jordan Love, defensive back Parry Nickerson, linebacker Rashan Gary, tight end Marcedes Lewis and defensive lineman Kenny Clark inactive for the game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Davante Adams is the Packers biggest inactive for Monday Night Football
Adams proved what an important target he can be for Rodgers in Week one against the Vikings. He caught 14 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns. However, his impact has been limited since then. He had three catches for the Packers in a win over Detroit but sustained the hamstring injury and hasn’t played since.
With Adams out, Green Bay has relied on an array of receivers. Running back Aaron Jones ended up with the most receiving yards against the Lions while Marquez Valdes-Scantling led the receivers. Last week in a win over the Saints, Allen Lazard and tight end Robert Tonyan ended up with the most production.
Lazard won’t have the chance to catch more passes from Rodgers since he is now on IR with a core injury. That’s also where Equanimeous St. Brown is with a knee problem. Such is the state of Rodgers’ receiving corps.
Along with Valdes-Scantling, Rodgers’ two other available receiving targets, Malik Taylor and Darrius Shepherd, are both practice squad players.
Despite all those issues, the Packers are expected to improve their record to 4-0 thanks to the Falcon’s abysmal play so far this year. It may be worth it to let Adams get fully healthy from the hamstring, which is a notoriously naggy injury, instead of rushing him back. for a game Green Bay should be able to win without him.
